 Pharmacovigilance committee of the college

The Pharmacovigilance committee , which comprises of the prof s of the clinical departments meets regularly and deliberates on the issues relating to the drugs. Professor of Pharmacology is the organising secretary of the committee.

Various activities discussed are :

  2. Drug storage
  3. Drug dispensing
  4. Prescribing habits
  5. Rational drug therapy
  6. Prescription audit
  7. ADR monitoring


The Department of Pharmacology is one of the RegionalPharmacovigilance Centres of India. It has been approved by the Pharmacopeia Commission of India for the Pharmacovigilance activities. So, the department is an active and integral part of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India. All clinicians are actively engaged in the Pharmacovigilance activity like Adverse Reaction Monitoring. Our data is sent to the National Pharmacovigilance Centre for onward transmission to Upssala Monitoring Centre at Sweden ( World Health Organisation ). Students are also involved in the project activity and they get hands- on experience on this ADR monitoring aspect. Our college faculty is appreciated by the National centre for our voluntary and active service in this program.
