It was built in the year…………………….There are research laboratories, two lecture theatres with seating capacity of 100, four practical halls.
Academic Activities
The Dept. of Microbiology has medical and paramedical courses. Under the Medical Course, MBBS & MD (Microbiology) courses are conducted with the strength of 100 and 2 per year respectively.
II MBBS Students
Lectures, practical classes, seminars and tutorials with periodical assessment.
They are practically trained for staining procedures, identifying cultures and reporting serological tests.
As an extension of teaching, vertical and horizontal integrated teaching are done with other concerned department.
Post- Graduate is MD microbiology are trained is all aspects like diagnosis, interpretation and management of patient samples and correlating it clinically.
Their academic activities include lecture demonstrations, practical classes, journal clubs, seminars and participating in CME – Conference presenting paper and posters.
They are encouraged to choose research topics for their dissertation which is a vital part of their curriculum.
Paramedical : DMLT paramedical course is also conducted as a two-year course with training of students as to collection and processing of samples in all discipline of microbiology along with theory and practical chance and examination are held every year

Research Activities
The undergraduate and post graduate are encouraged to do many research work the ICMR Projects TamilNadu State Reasearch.
Projects with particular reference to multidrug resistant organisms like MRSA and ESBL were presented.
